Apology: Pronunciation error on -gue Activity Sheet

Post by debbie »

You know that saying: 'You learn something new every day', well this is so true.

But imagine my embarrassment when in the middle of modelling a Phonics International lesson in Year 6 using my Unit 12 Sounds Book Activity Sheets for -gue as code for the sound /g/ followed by the matching 'I can read' text (Seven League Boots), we discover that the word 'ague' is not pronounced /ai/+/g/ but is actually pronounced /ai/+/g/+/yoo/!!!!!

The Year 6 children were being introduced to my core resources and fully 'into' the lesson looking up various words from the Sounds Book Activity Sheet in their dictionaries when we discovered the pronunciation of 'ague' was not what I thought it to be!

My apologies, then, for this error (entirely mine) and rest assured that we have now removed the word 'ague' from the -gue Sounds Book Activity Sheet.
