This article beggars belief - starting off with comments about an 'exam' culture and ending up clearly blaming phonics and phonics interventions for six year olds!

There are three levels of anti-phonics hype:

Phonics detractors (my usual preferred term)

Phonics denialists (Andrew Old's preferred term)

Phonicsphobics (closer to the truth perhaps).
