Continuation of Colour-In Sounds Book through the programme

Post by debbie »

Colour-In Sounds Book (A5 size)

Originally, this strand was available in units 1 to 6 but with our recent new bank of illustrations, I have been able to extend this strand throughout the whole programme.

Tonight we have uploaded the Colour-In Sounds Book sheets in unit 7 (module 7).

The Colour-In Sounds Book strand provides an exemplar word and 'line' picture to enable the learner to colour-in the picture as an aid to memory.

There are three further cumulative decodable word examples with the focus letter/s-sound correspondence.

The focus grapheme is in 'tracker' font so that the learner can handwrite the letters within the tracker shapes also as an aid to memory.

I suggest that each A5 section is cut out and stuck into a scrap book or exercise book to create a discrete book of Alphabetic Code information with words to blend. This book can be re-visited over and again to help the code transfer to long-term memory. Schools could then allow this book to go back and forth to the home setting.

Teachers need to support the learners in knowing the exact meanings of the example words to take full advantage of these opportunities for vocabulary extension.
