Audio-video & PPT for No Nonsense Phonics Skills program

Post by debbie »

This is a very exciting development of my work - content-rich phonics and language comprehension books including spelling word banks.

Phonics International Ltd is working in association with Raintree Publishers to produce a streamlined series of 9 Pupil Books, 9 accompanying Teacher Books, mini Alphabetic Code Charts - with fantastic supplementary resources on a USB Stick.

We've now made a free PowerPoint and an audio/video featuring the No Nonsense Phonics Skills Starter Kit resources.

The PowerPoint with scripted notes below will enable very quick review of the research, rationale and resources of the No Nonsense Phonics Skills programme:

The audio-video of the PowerPoint and notes includes a level of detailed explanation which, in effect, amounts to supporting good use of the programme (training):

Here's a little 'taster' - video footage made by Raintree Publishing of a Year One class trialling the resources when they were in development:

Here is the 22 minute, youtube version of the video interview and classroom snapshot - Year One children trialling resources from No Nonsense Phonics Skills and teacher, Kate Flowerdew, describing the findings of the school in using my resources:

Here is an article in NATE Primary Matters written by Deputy Headteacher, Kate Flowerdew, about adopting new methods suggested in the Phonics International and No Nonsense Phonics Skills programmes:

Teaching Phonics - a no nonsense approach to change

Debbie Hepplewhite’s No Nonsense Phonics programme offers paper-based phonics provision with ample code, word, text and book content to support both teaching and learning. Here, Kate Flowerdew charts the journey and benefits enjoyed by her school in adopting this method.

Fantastic update - Assistant Head, Jamie Hallums, kindly provided a PowerPoint he has created especially for training Teaching Assistants in the use of the No Nonsense Phonics Skills programme.

We have added Jamie's PowerPoint to the bottom of this webpage - along with the original PPT we've provided, it is really useful for both reviewing the methodology and materials of the programme and for actual introduction and training purposes:
