Eng: 2012 statutory requirements - name phonics schemes

Post by admin »

Changes to Statutory Requirements brought in by Nick Gibb when he was Schools Minister:

http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2012 ... 124_en.pdf
The following information about the school curriculum—

(a) in relation to each academic year, the content of the curriculum followed by the school for each subject and details as to how additional information relating to thecurriculum may be obtained;

(b) in relation to key stage 1, the names of any phonics or reading schemes in operation;
English school websites should include named phonics schemes and reading schemes.

I am pleased to see this requirement - but named schemes does not automatically guarantee that they are followed according to the authors' intentions of course!

Mike Lloyd-Jones raised this issue in his blog:

Above post by me, not 'admin'!
