Training in Western Australia

Post by debbie »

Katie Young in Western Australia has a broad experience of teaching and tutoring and is passionate to provide advice and support to those in need of the most effective reading and spelling instruction.

Katie has been innovative at finding ways to use Phonics International resources along with the Australian 'Fitzroy Readers'.

She is also trialling ways of using Phonics International resources to support parents and volunteers who hear slower-to-learn readers within primary schools. Katie refers to this as her 'Support-A-Reader' package.

We have made a start devising specific materials which can provide a quick dip-in toolkit for parents and volunteers who hear pupils reading their books aloud to be able to address gaps in alphabetic code knowledge.
