'Work in Progress' word list posters

Post by debbie »

There are two Phonics International resources which really lend themselves to be enlarged and displayed on the class phonics display wall as resources which are 'work in progress' for word lists resources.

These are the additional sheets provided in unit 6 to unit 12 as part of the core SOUNDS BOOK ACTIVITY SHEETS.

There are the sheets which are divided into columns. One extra sheet provides actual word examples spelt with the different spelling alternatives for the focus sound.

Then there are sheets divided into columns which are 'empty' designed for the learners to do grapheme/word searches - possibly from the I CAN READ texts - or from wider reading and writing.

These additional sheets can be used for display but the one with the empty columns could be displayed to be 'filled in' with appropriate words over time (as they are encountered in wider reading and writing activities for example) - either by the teacher or the learners themselves.

These sheets could be laminated for re-use (use dry-write pens) or simply used as one-off paper based sheets.

Another PI resource which could be used in this way are the GROUPING THE SPELLING ALTERNATIVES ACTIVITY SHEETS. These can be found throughout the programme in units 1 to 12.

These activity sheets can be used flexibly for individual learners to draw pictures of example words - or for writing further words of the particular spelling alternatives. These sheets would also make excellent 'work in progress' posters for whole groups or classes.

Again - they could be enlarged and laminated or just used as one-off paper based resources. :D
