Bruce Deitrick Price writes about the US 'education establishment' not promoting cursive handwriting - and Bruce gives reasons for why it is important. Please note that, in England, teaching fully-joined handwriting is actually in the statutory National Curriculum for English - to be taught in the infants!

In England, however, this does not mean handwriting is always taught well enough - far from it. Part of the reason for this is the dominance and over-use, and mis-use, of mini whiteboards for teaching writing within phonics lessons. _________________ Debbie Hepplewhite |
