I see the disappearance of handwriting as a generational loss of fine motor skills that are revealed in fewer shirts and coats with buttons, pull on shoes, less home cooking, etc.

My spouse is dyslexic, hand writes very little, and this lack of practice reveals itself in many aspects of day-to-day living and limitations of choices in career and hobbies. Any suggestion to try something requiring fine motor skills results in rage. Spouse's siblings also lack fine motor skills with similar results. Been observing this response for 30+ years.
