How fabulous that the U.K. has a major politician who understands the core components of effective reading instruction. I wish I could have been there. I am eagerly awaiting information about the various talks.

Yes, Debbie, the chart you link to would be perfect for the purpose.

And, yes, a chart without the gray/grey :D shading would be lovely.

The smaller size for use in the students' folders is what I have in mind.

Thanks in advance!

Black & White code chart for US/Canada?

http://www.phonicsinternational.com/unit1_pdfs/1_Tent_Phoneme_picture_Code_white_giant.pdf I have been using the above chart for the purpose of showing the students how much of the code they have learned; they color in boxes as they progress. But, because this is the UK version of the code, I have ...

Color in the Sounds Books as Summer Resource for kids

With the time spent on the Sounds Activity Sheets, Spelling, and sentence reading, etc., teachers may not have time left over for utilizing the Color-in-the-Sounds Books. But what a lovely resource! I have found that they are an excellent "parting gift" for the Summer. The pages with the c...

The ability to use the printer set-up page to put multiple pages on one sheet of paper is something I only just recently discovered. But I thought it was limited to 2/page until I read through these posts of yours, Debbie. Six or more to a page! That's great. Being fairly new to laminating, I hadn't...

Sounds Books question

Teachers, What is your favorite way to create the Sounds Books? (Whether for keeping the cost down, or for ease of compilation, or for attractiveness, etc....) Do you use grapheme tiles and have the students glue them into a little book? Do you print out the flash cards in booklet size? Print out th...
